More Info on BSK-2 and BTC-2X
BSK-2 Bluetooth Source Kit
The BSK-2 Bluetooth Source Kit from Russound adds significant new features and functionality from the popular prior model. The BSK-2 is designed to add full-featured Bluetooth audio to any audio system and offers a unique range extension of up to 500′ by allowing the remote location of the transceiver module anywhere in the home. The BSK-2 is comprised of two components, the BTC-2X Remote Transceiver and the BTC-2 Audio Hub that is used for audio wiring and power connections.

BTC-2X Remote Transceiver
The BTC-2X Remote Transceiver is designed to add a single source of Bluetooth audio to the Russound MCA-Series of controllers which have all of the audio and power connections to support it already built-in. The BTC-2 audio hub is therefore not required for a single source offering cost savings to easily add Bluetooth to Russound controllers. The BTC-2X can also be used as a standalone Bluetooth audio source when the extra 500′ of extension is not required.

New MCA Firmware Update Now Available!
There is an important new firmware update available for the MCA-Series controllers needed to enable all new functionality with the BSK-2 and BTC-2X.
| Product | New Firmware Version |
| MCA-66 | 04.05.04 |
| MCA-88 | 04.05.04 |
How Do I Get the Update and What’s New in Version 04.05.04?
The update is available now through a Web Update using Russound’s WebConfig on these models. The update enables metadata support for song/track information like title and artist for all supported Bluetooth sources in addition to enabling track control. Additionally, the update includes some minor bug fixes and performance enhancements. We are offering this as an optional update at this time as it is primarily required for adding advanced Bluetooth features when installing our new BSK-2 or BTC-2X. As usual, if an installer is visiting a job site for any reason, we recommend always updating Russound products to the latest firmware version.
FAQ
Do I need to do this update?
This update will be required for anyone installing a BSK-2 Bluetooth Source Kit or BTC-2X Bluetooth Remote Transceiver into a Russound system. Without this update, one of the key features of the new Bluetooth products, the ability to get song/track metadata and to have track control options like play/pause, skip forward/back, etc will not be available.
Keep in mind that the current BSK-1 and BTC-1X will continue to work for any customers who do not have their MCA-Series controllers updated to version 04.05.04. There will not be any loss of their current functionality.
How long does the update take?
Updating the firmware of a controller will take approximately 15 minutes or longer to complete depending on several items including the available internet bandwidth. The controller will reboot several times during the update process and should not be interrupted until the process completes.
Do I need to do anything for the update to happen automatically?
As an optional update, this update will not be pushed out to all controllers in the field. All MCA-66 and MCA-88 units in the field will list the update as “available” when selecting “Web Update” in the controller’s WebConfig configuration page
