Version 2.0.24 includes support for Apple AirPlay 2. During the MBX firmware update, for all devices earlier than version 2.0.23, users will be automatically logged out of their TIDAL accounts and will have to log back in again to take advantage of the new login. Additionally, any Russound favorites for TuneIn will need to be re-saved after the update.
Version 2.0.24 includes support for Apple AirPlay 2 along with other enhancements and bug fixes and is recommended for all installations. One of the key enhancements is an update to TIDAL accounts to use a new secure OAUTH authentication protocol and to improve error messaging when there are any login or account issues when using TIDAL.
IMPORTANT NOTE: During the MBX firmware update, for all devices earlier than version 2.0.23, users will be automatically logged out of their TIDAL accounts and will have to log back in again to take advantage of the new login authentication protocol. Additionally, any Russound favorites for TuneIn will need to be re-saved after the update. Russound TuneIn Favorites saved prior to MBX firmware version 2.0.23 will no longer work and must be re-saved due to a format change by TuneIn. This is a quick and easy process if you take note of all TuneIn favorites, delete each of them and then navigate to each and re-save them as Russound Favorites again. This includes both Russound device/room favorites as well as Russound app favorites.
Please note that all MBX-PRE and MBX-AMP devices have automatically updated to firmware version 2.0.24 on May 2, 2022. Units that had not been manually updated before this date will be logged out of TIDAL automatically during the process and will need to log back in as well as update any TuneIn favorites as noted above. Russound makes an enormous effort to assure that our firmware updates can be as seamless as possible but unfortunately, in this case, changes made by our streaming partners made this update a bit more complicated than normal. We apologize for any inconvenience but know that you and your customers will appreciate the improvements made.
