MCA-88X
MCA-88
MCA-66
Firmware Version: 3.00.04
Note: All three Russound MCA-Series controller models (MCA-66, MCA-88, and MCA-88X) use this same firmware file.
This new firmware version is a major update to the MCA-Series of controllers from Russound. It enhances our Web Config browser-based configuration system to provide installers with all key features of our SCS-C5 configuration software.
Configuring a Russound system is now easily done through the web browser on a phone, tablet, or computer.
Key New Features
Password Protection in Web Config
We have now implemented a basic password protection system in Web Config so that no configuration changes can be made by anyone who does not know the password. There is a single password used on all MCA-Series devices of russound123
The password only needs to be entered once on your browser and will enable your browser to access the system for 24 hours.
This easy-to-use system is designed to minimize the chances of end users accidentally making changes to the system.
Pandora Update for MCA-88X
This release contains an important update for accessing Pandora from the MCA-88X’s internal streamer.
Other major updates to Web Config
IR Library
Full access to the built-in IR library of the controller is now available through Web Config. Simply choose your source device’s type (CD, Receiver, Cable Box, TV, etc) and then select the Manufacturer and Device Code for each IR-controlled source you are connecting to the controller.
Command Editor
Full access to Russound’s Command Editor is now available through Web Config. On any IR-controlled source’s settings page, simply select the “Command Editor” button. With Command Editor, you can re-assign the button commands of Russound user interfaces for Play, Pause, Stop, Next, Previous, Plus and Minus to any IR command within the IR library or even to a Macro that you have already configured. This can be done for both normal button presses as well as press-and-hold events.
IR Learning
With IR Learning in Web Config, you can learn anything from a single IR command to a complete command set for any device quickly and easily. Simply select individual codes you would like to learn, or select all of them and start learning them all in order.
Russound Device Quick Navigation
On the top right of all Web Config pages, there is now a drop-down box that enables you to quickly jump from one Russound product to another, to greatly simplify the management of all Russound products on a network.
System Check
System Check is a new feature of Web Config designed to simplify management of a large audio system. System Check will list all Russound products that are physically connected to the Russound controller such as keypads, Russound sources and XStream Series devices, and any slave controllers. It provides each device’s firmware versions and basic configuration information to assist you with managing your system.
Backup and Restore
Backup and Restore of system configurations is now available through Web Config. Please note that due to operating system limitations of iOS devices, you will not be able to save or restore any files when using an iPhone or iPad.
Source Template Saving and Re-using
In addition to backing up and restoring an entire system configuration, one of the key features of our SCS-C5 software was the ability to save a source template for any sources that are used frequently in different jobs. Web Config now allows that as an option as part of the Backup/Restore Menu of the Admin tab. This is a great option If you have one model of TV’s that goes into most of your installations and you like to tweak one of its IR command settings, you can now easily save that template and re-use it on every installation using Web Config.
Project Info
Using Web Config, you can now enter information about an installation including customer information, your dealer information, and any comments. This information will assist you when saving backup files and will let anyone servicing the controller know who to contact regarding the installation. This information is not transmitted anywhere and is only stored on the controller itself or in any backup files you have made with the new Backup and Restore feature.
Power Management
Power Management of any IR controlled source devices can now be configured using Web Config. This includes both power “On” and “Off” commands for each source device, as well as enabling audio signal sensing for any of the line inputs.
Macro Builder
Full access to the Russound Macro Builder is now available in Web Config. Simply choose “Macro Builder” from the Setup tab and start creating or editing your custom macros.
Zone Grouping
Zone Grouping is now available as a Zone Setting option in Web Config. This includes groups that are either source linked, or zone-linked. Management of each zone within a group is now quick and simple.
Time/Date Settings
Web Config now allows adjustment of the system time/date that is used for alarms and sleep timers. To adjust the time/date, simply choose System Settings from the Setup menu.
