Established in 1967, Russound has been dedicated to providing high quality audio products focused on sonic fidelity, reliability, and ease of use. That focus only intensified when Russound’s current owner, Maureen Baldwin, acquired the company in 1987. Her love and passion for manufacturing led to vast improvements in product design, and the modernization and streamlining of the fabrication of the products and dramatically improving the performance and reliability for its customers. Through the years, Russound has grown from its humble beginning as a cottage industry, manufacturing products at its facility in New Hampshire, to one of the most well-known brands in the audio industry with a focus on providing best-in-class products for professional installation in homes and businesses throughout the world.
With Maureen’s manufacturing expertise in the sheet metal industry and her drive for gathering customer feedback, she was able to immediately implement key changes in the products and their design for transformative improvements to the company. From the first day she acquired the company, her vision has led the company towards the future, from the early days of simple volume controls and speaker selectors for audio distribution and control, which Russound still sells today, to the modern, technology-driven era of streaming products, intuitive apps and touchscreens, digital amplification and high fidelity loudspeakers.
As a privately-held, woman-owned company, Russound is a unique entity in the world of consumer electronics and high performance audio and Maureen’s singular focus on the customer experience continues driving the company today as it expands into new opportunities in commercial audio.
Russound is driven to excellence by its people and Maureen has assembled some of the industry’s most talented people to drive Russound’s growth throughout the years. A key addition to the company was the hiring of Joe Brouillet, who led Russound from 1989 to 2009. Joe was the key force behind the transformation of the company’s product distribution strategy and its evolution into a global audio brand.
Charlie Porritt joined the company in 2000 after a history of working with some of the largest brands in the industry. Charlie had an immediate impact on the company and quickly rose to be its next CEO and a minority stockholder. With his dynamic personality and well-known sense of humor, Charlie has become Russound’s ambassador. His leadership propelled the company in its vast sales expansion throughout the US and Canada and to well over 100 countries. Charlie’s unique and innovative insight gained from his deep experience in both custom installation and audio has enabled him to take Russound to the premier position it holds in the market today.
Bill Ramsdell, VP of Engineering, with Russound since 1995, is the principal design engineer of the company and leads Russound’s hardware and software design teams.
Colin Clark, VP of Products, who joined Russound in 2014 added his wide industry knowledge and experience to the company and propelled its expansion into new product categories and technologies.
Paul Wojciechowski, Director of Product Development, one of the latest additions to the team, joined in 2021, and used his years of experience in manufacturing, industrial design, acoustics, and mechanical engineering to launch the next generation of Russound’s products.
